Marian is loved by a lot of Filipinos by leading memorable TV shows of before; notable examples of these are Darna and Dyesebel. Both shows are telefantasyas from GMA – and both received overwhelming ratings, huge followings, and positive reviews from the critics. Darna for example opened with rave reviews, and as what writer Nestor Torre of Philippine Daily Inquirer described the pilot episode, its “loud and livid”. She led roles on some Philippine remakes
Our girl, Marian, is also known for bringing a lot of Philippine remakes on our televisions. One of her most remarkable roles was playing the lead role in Marimar. The show became the highest-rated prime time drama show on Philippine television at that time and launched her to stardom.
“Masaya po kami rito kasi hindi lang naman ang Marimar ang mataas, pati ang whole block ng primetime ng GMA.” Marian said after the release of the show’s rating. If you’re thinking that she became an actress only because of her looks, well, think again. Marian Rivera has received a lot of awards for her acting, especially ‘Best Actress’ awards. After headlining Amaya, she won several awards and accolades for her role. One of these was winning “Best Actress” in Golden Screen TV Awards in 2013. She can actually dance pretty well
Yes, you read that right. She is a good dancer. She released her first dance music album entitled Marian Rivera Dance Hits in 2008. And under this album includes her smash hit Sabay Sabay Tayo, the song you shake your hips to. She even had a weekly musical-variety dance program – Marian – back in 2014. She had a showdown with Vilma Santos in that show.
